St. Earth Pottery is a one-man studio located in rural Indiana. I make each pot myself -- one at a time -- from start to finish. I use traditional craft techniques like throwing on the potter's wheel, shaping with hand tools, decorating with brushes, glazing by hand, and firing in fuel-burning kilns.

I aim to make pots that are well-crafted and also beautiful; interesting and enjoyable to use. Striking a good balance between these qualities is difficult but a satisfying journey. I make a wide range of forms, almost all of them utilitarian, for food and drink. Some are more decorative, like vases for flowers, and a few are almost completely sculptural. I use a variety of clays, glazes, and firing methods, and I'm always on the lookout for something new.

Most of my pots sell directly from my showroom to local customers. I do two studio sales each year and my showroom is open year-round by appointment. I occasionally sell pots online, in regional galleries, and through exhibitions.

I've been making pots for over 20 years and I hope to still be making them decades from now. I want each pot to find a place in someone's home; ideally, where it is used and enjoyed in their daily life.

Thanks for visiting,
Scott Cooper
